Sprout Creative was approached by Carnival Cruises to develop something unique for their brand new ship being built in Italy and launching in June 2012. They wanted some conversation pieces to be developed for a new piano bar on the ship Called Piano Bar 88. Sprout Creative in conjunction with PJ Barber Design developed a technique utilizing invisible black light ink that would glow only at night when the bar was in low light mode.

The overall layout of the bar was a walk through design and we wanted to create something that during the day was different from at night. The people on the ship would walk through during the day and see photos of classic singers/jazz musicians and then later at night they would be surprised to see the same oversized photos with the graphics glowing in and around the artists. The “invisible” art we created all compliments the style and feel of the individual artist. Elton John got a flamboyant makeover with jewels and feathers while Billy Joel got a cool Manhattan New York style vibe applied to it. While each photo contains different graphics we still maintained a nice consistency with the overall graphic treatment for continuity.

The printing was done here in Vancouver by Prismtech Graphics. They really helped us pull this off working with Sprout Creative to source out ink and a technique that was incredibly unique in the print industry.

We were recently approached to answer a question for a local company’s online article. The question was, What’s a key marketing element most businesses neglect? Here is what we commonly find in our experience.

Agency Specific: A key marketing element that is often overlooked at an internal level is the ability of your employees to really nail down the elevator pitch. It’s important that the people who live and breath as a representation of your company can fully understand who you are and what it is that you do. Then be able to concisely and effectively deliver that message in a very short conversation. You never know where your next job can come from!

Client Specific: At Sprout Creative we do a lot of online work and we often see a huge neglect in web content management. We’re approached by excited clients wanting a website that is a robust CMS with latest news updates and social media marketing opportunities etc etc. They want it all but don’t have the resources to manage it after we, “hand over the website keys” so to speak. A year later the site is stagnant and basically exactly how we left it. It’s important to have a long term strategic plan for the management of this content in place to really capitalize on what you can do with it.

It seems that the internal projects always take a back seat to the great client work that we work on daily but, finally, after a long overdue much needed site update, we’ve been able to redesign sproutcreative.ca. Our new site is now more representative of the work that we do for our clients, utilizing WordPress as its back-end content management / blogging tool. We’ve custom-built a theme that uses Javascripts for the fancy “Latest Projects” scroller on the home page as well as other light boxes and little tools to keep our presentation up-to-date and current.

We plan on updating our work as we roll out new projects, so check back often to see what we’ve been up to, or better yet Subscribe to our newsletter on our contact page to stay updated.

Our creative team developed the name, logo and visual identity system and then proceeded to build and deploy a fully functional e-commerce online store for this urban outdoor furniture company.

The site utilizes Joomla as a content management system and has many built in functions such as cataloguing, invoice receipts, inventory and much much more. We also developed banners and collateral for a booth at the Vancouver Home and Garden Show and email campaigns for product awareness and promo based marketing. We will continue to work with Deckor to market and promote their company and products.

Sprout Creative designed and built this custom WordPress site for the Genome Science + Technology department of UBC. It utilizes things such as coverflows to visually browse through the faculty and students of the program. It is also used on the home page to give windows into sections to drive people into the site.

The use of WordPress allowed Sprout to give content control to the client once the site went live. It also gives the client the opportunity to blog in a “Latest News” manner to keep the content fresh.

Sprout Creative worked with the Greater Vancouver Food Bank Society to develop an integrated offline and online campaign that would spread the word to the general public and corporate sector about their upcoming summer campaign. We developed the creative execution and then applied it to a direct mail campaign (envelope, newsletter and donation card), a corporate campaign (posters, sign up forms, info packages), print ads in various local publications such as the Vancouver Sun and TV Week and finally an online campaign including a pop up homepage ad and a sitelet with integrated donation forms specific to this campaign.

With times changing and the importance of new media in the marketing and advertising world the print industry may be feeling the crunch of online media and seeing its effect on business. Sprout Creative worked to develop an advertisement for Patterson + Associates to help them acquire clients in the print industry who may be feeling this new media crunch on their business. The ad is meant to drive home the idea in a fairly heavy hitting way that thinking like a dinosaur or trying to keep business moving as it was in the past may be your ultimate demise.
